Deadline One Stories Are Complete!
As final exams bring classes to a close for the semester, the first round of stories have been edited, bringing my job as the Razorback copy editor to a close until next year.
My job is to help writers as they write their stories and then edit those stories as they are turned in.
This was my first semester as the copy editor of the Razorback, and I have had a blast so far. There was always a lot of work to be done, but I was also able to have fun getting to know Helen, Megan and Shannon while working in the office.
As it got closer and closer to deadline, my job became a little more stressful, but nothing that I couldn't handle. And in the end, the hard work was well worth it.
We have some really great stories so far for the 2009 Razorback! Union Sword Fighters, Thanksgiving at the Grand Canyon, Student Running For Mayor and Artist String Sculptures are just a few examples of the topics that were covered in the first deadline.
Check out this amazing lead from the Student Running For Mayor story, written by Andrea Myers:
"Pre-med. Pre-law. Christian. Engaged. House-owner. Green. Sales associate. Dog owner. 2007 Fayetteville High School graduate. There were many characteristics that defined 19-year-old UA sophomore, Sami Sutton, but one that set her apart from most of her student peers was this: 2008 Fayetteville mayoral candidate."
Pretty great, right? Aren't you excited to read the rest of the story? This story, just like so many of the rest of the deadline one stories, is pretty amazing! I can't wait to see what wonderful work the writers come up with for the next deadline.
